Our creative direction is inspired by a combination of historical northern cultures (Norse, Sami, Inuit, and other circumpolar peoples), natural arctic environments, and northern mythology. We're fascinated by the unique relationship between people and their environment in extreme northern conditions, and how these challenges shape culture, technology, and storytelling. We also draw inspiration from the distinctive lighting conditions of northern regions - from the midnight sun to the aurora borealis - which create magical atmospheres that naturally lend themselves to fantasy world-building.

Our research process combines academic sources with firsthand experience. We maintain partnerships with anthropologists and cultural historians specializing in northern societies, who review our concepts for accuracy and cultural sensitivity. Team members regularly travel to northern regions to experience environments firsthand and meet with community knowledge keepers. We maintain an extensive library of historical texts, archaeological studies, and ethnographic records that inform our world-building. For each project, we create detailed research documents that guide our artists and writers in creating authentic but respectful interpretations of northern-inspired elements.

Yes! We offer both paid internships and full-time positions across various disciplines including concept art, environmental design, narrative design, programming, and audio engineering. Our internship program runs twice yearly (summer and winter) and provides hands-on experience working alongside our development teams. We particularly encourage applications from individuals with backgrounds in northern cultures or environments, as these perspectives enrich our creative work. All current opportunities are listed on our Careers page, which we update regularly. We also offer mentorship programs for emerging game developers from underrepresented backgrounds.

Our games are currently available on PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. We prioritize cross-platform development to make our worlds accessible to as many players as possible. Each platform version is optimized to take advantage of the specific hardware capabilities while maintaining the core experience. We also support cross-save functionality where technically possible, allowing players to continue their adventures across different devices. Mobile adaptations of selected titles are currently in development for iOS and Android, with our first mobile release scheduled for late 2025.

Sustainability is integrated into every aspect of our operation. On the technical side, we optimize our development pipeline and game code for energy efficiency, both during production and for the end user experience. Our rendering techniques and asset optimization reduce computational demands without sacrificing visual quality. We've implemented a four-day work week that reduces commuting emissions while improving work-life balance for our team. Our games often include subtle environmental themes that raise awareness about climate impacts on northern regions, though we ensure these elements enhance rather than distract from the player experience. We also offset our carbon footprint through verified carbon capture programs and renewable energy investments.
